Deets about rent relief
The pandemmy has done a number on many renters, especially in a high-COL joint like SLO. After a long wait, details are FINALLY available about the state’s rent relief program. The County is partnering with a few local agencies (the Salvation Army, United Way, and 5 Cities Homeless Coalition) to administer the programs, and funds are going to be distributed to landlords. To apply as a tenant, you gotta have been unemployed due to COVID and have been served papers of some kind. You also have to make less than $58,800 (which happens to be 80% of the area’s median household income). Not gonna lie, this ish is complicated. If you or someone you know qualifies, we recommend getting help the old-fashioned way: pick up the phone & call 833-430-2122, 7 days a week.
