While you still can.
One of our favorite things about SLO is the hiking… and probably the most beloved and breathtaking of our hikes is Bishop Peak & Felsman Loop. Buuuuuut, In the name of “egress” for the 5 rich folks living at the top of the street, the fire dept wants to poop on the fun… and the new City Council just agreed with their plan to eliminate the 95 street parking spots leading up to the Highland Drive trailhead.
Seems weird, right? Ya, let’s force hikers to use the illegal trailhead (Foothill) or already busy one (Patricia) or better yet, let’s have hundreds of people huffing it up the middle of a steep and windy street with no sidewalk! Yay. It’s not a done deal, so let’s speak up about this one, y’all. Email the Council, the City Manager and the Fire Chief and let them know there are other ways to balance safety and fun than… pooping on hikers.
2017 New Year’s Reso = More hikie, less poopie.
