Ballots are headed to a mailbox near you
Well hot damn–the recall election of Governor Newsom is nearly upon us. While the recall is scheduled for Sep. 14th (that’s right–next freakin month!) all registered voters will be receiving mail-in ballots ASAP just like in last year’s election (which worked GREAT for turn out … and got the big thumbs down from the County BoS *eye roll*). Never voted in a recall before? It’s structured WAY different, so buckle your safety belts kids–we’re headed to Recall 101!
There are only two questions on the ballot: 1. Should Newsom be recalled? If 50% or more vote NO, the governor will remain in office. If more than 50% vote YES, the governor will be removed from office, and 2. Who should replace him? For the second question you have your pick of 46–yes FORTY SIX–different individuals to choose from…meaning a candidate needs to merely garner 2.2% of the total votes in question 2 to become governor of the 5th largest economy in the world.
But don’t panic! Talk to your friends and fam about the election, and if you’re thirsty for more, the League of Women Voters will be hosting a webinar with Cuesta College on 8/24 @ 4 pm. Stay tuned!
