BOS moving forward
We’re making that iffy face that says, “TOO SOON?!” but know it’s gotta happen. After Adam Hill’s tragic death just a few weeks ago, the question of who will finish his term as District 3 County Supervisor lingers. Encompassing 60+% of SLO, Edna Valley, Avila, Pismo & Grover, the elected position will now be appointed by Gov. Newsom. Hill was re-elected for a 4th term in March, so peeps are watching closely for his replacement–who will get 3+ years in office. Sadly we’ve been here before, as Supervisor Paul Texiera died in office in ‘13 and Gov Brown appointed his replacement, Caren Ray, who’s now AG’s mayor.
TODAY, 9/2, get to know some of the candidates vying for the appointment, including Erica Flores Baltodano, Stacy Korsgaden, Dawn Ortiz-Legg, Peg Pinard, Mariam Shah, Erica Stewart and Kara Woodruff. Yeaaa, you read that right, all women – bam! Co-hosted by NAACP SLO County, Latino Outreach Council and the League of Women Voters, this virtual Town Hall will be a candidates forum with Q&As. From 6:30-8:30, it’s cocktail & din-din time as you watch via ZOOM. NAACP will also air it on their FB Live. Full deets here. Let’s hope the appointee carries on Hill’s legacy of serving the underserved.
