Put the brakes on gas power
What do Seattle, Denver, SF and NYC have in common with lil SLO? They’re all jumping on the anti-gas bandwagon and proposing/enacting measures to ban or discourage natural gas for new builds in favor of cleaner energy from wind and solar. After Berkeley spearheaded the movement in 2019, SLO helped pave the way in 2020 with its own program and incentives. Being an energy leader doesn’t come without backlash, and some states have even made gas bans illegal. Send kudos to SLO City Council for helping kick start this trend and inching us closer to our climate action goals.
