Board of Supes strikes again
In a move straight out of a Wild West playbook, yet another top official has likely been chased outta town by an unruly gang of bandits, errr, our very own Board of Supervisors!? Last month, it was the resignation of County Clerk Recorder Tommy Gong after being bullied, berated and discriminated against over election results data presented at the Board of Supes mtg. Now SLO County’s Waste Management leader has resigned, leaving his position a year before his contract is up. This comes after a trio of Supes made moves to try to break up the Waste Management org which oversees waste and recycling throughout the county. And right before that, a dumpload of drama with some Supes vying to retract a county wide ban of Styrofoam that had been long approved and set to take place. [Spoiler alert, Styrofoam is now banned – woohoo!]
After Brooks Stayer’s resignation was announced, Supervisor Gibson noted Stayer’s “efforts to work in a very difficult situation, especially where you have members of this Board actively trying to undermine the mission of this organization.” Gulp. Email the Board of Supes here and tell ‘em this behavior will not be tolerated by voters, and is just straight up embarrassing. We have made NATIONALNEWS for these antics! Remind the Supes that we hold the power through our votes. And oh hey, one of the trio of Supes is up for election next year.
