GALA Pride Center rides the rainbow
Pride month started off strong with the unveiling of the “Love Notes” community art project in Mission Plaza, featuring a colorful display of hand-painted wooden boards decorated by more than 100 local artists and community LGBTQIA folx. But “WTG!!” turned to “WTF?!” later that week when the GALA Pride Center announced that someone stole their sign and posted awful hate speech on their door. Big ups to the community for springing into action with donations for a replacement, and dozens of people came out to a student-organized candlelight vigil on Sunday night. You can give too and say that this kind of hate’s got no place in our SLO Co hearts.
