For a less carbon-ified world

Arguably the world’s worst pick up line, but did you know that almost 30% of SLO’s carbon emissions come from energy used in buildings? The good news – almost half will be eliminated when a community choice program takes over SLO’s electric service in 2020 (just don’t opt out, peeps). The bad news – the other half of those emissions are really really hard to get rid of… and the amount of new construction in the pipeline could exacerbate the issue.
Enter: Reach codes! The City of SLO and the SLO Climate Coalition aim to change our city’s building codes to ensure new construction projects like Avila and San Luis Ranch are up to the highest energy efficiency standards. They want to educate y’all about current solutions and technologies being used in new and existing buildings (it’s not magic), so mark your calendar for the 3rd Climate Solutions event [8/22] at the library & farmers market and learn up on a topic guaranteed not to get you laid 🧐
