Workers walk out for wages
We know you know that SLO County is expensive AF to live in. The latest testament to this wretched reality: County workers are on strike to fight for a living wage. From Park Rangers to Librarians to County Health workers, these folks work tirelessly to help us lead easier, more pleasantly secure lives… and it’s time to return the favor.
A 3rd party fact-finding report showed that because of concessions during the Great Recession, county workers are underpaid by more than 9%. The report recommended *at least* a 3% increase to bring wages up. So, the County thought… “How about 0.5%? That otta do it!” Or… not. Workers have had enough, and rightfully so. Hopefully, the Supes got a clear message when workers came in droves for the Airing of Grievances. Here’s to wishing for a Festivus Miracle for these ridiculously hard workers (and by miracle, we mean a totally reasonable wage increase).
